About the installation

This sugar installation was my thesis, and it is about love – an overly syrupy, addicted feeling for someone. I examine and show how one certain person can make you go crazy. Love is quite absurd and not everything can be said with words.

The material I chose for this project was sugar, because sometimes love makes you feel intoxicated and you get addicted to it – like with sugar – and sometimes it disgusts you with its sweetness.

In this ecstacy of love I made a sugared statue of my partner and surrounded it with caramels. My partner is my drug and the object of my worship, and that’s why I’m building an altar for him. I wanted to show and share this love, and therefore the caramels were free to be taken by the viewers.
